Milan Received ‘YES’ from Barcelona Outcast Junior Firpo

Milan have made a huge step towards completing the signing of Barcelona outcast Junior Firpo as the talks between the sides continue. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the player has given his consent to the move as the Rossoneri now hope to convince the Spaniards to give their go-ahead.

Milan are looking to recruit a new left-back in the summer as Diogo Dalot returned to Manchester United after his loan deal at the San Siro expired. Although Diego Laxalt’s loan spell at Celtic also about to end, the Rossoneri are likely to offload the Uruguayan when the transfer window reopens for business.

Milan’s interest in Firpo is not a novelty as the Serie A giants were on the left-back’s tail last summer but failed to strike a deal with Barcelona. Things seem pretty different this time around as the 24-year-old experienced another underwhelming season at Camp Nou.

Having spent the entire 2020/21 campaign in the shadow of Jordi Alba, Firpo is keen to depart Barcelona for some regular first-team football. Although he is likely to play understudy to Theo Hernandez, the Dominican Republic native should enjoy more game time at the San Siro.

But the Italians are not the only team in the race, with West Ham United and Southampton also hopeful of clinching a deal with the Blaugrana. The Premier League sides could throw a spanner in the works to Milan’s efforts to land Firpo, considering their economic capacity.

For the time being, though, the Rossoneri remain firmly in the driving seat to capture the former Real Betis left wing-back.
