Milan Refuse to Entertain Chelsea Attempt for Maignan

Mike Maignan is attracting some interest, but Milan have no plans to part ways with their star goalkeeper. Chelsea have been rumored to be keen on the Frenchman, but it appears that not even a giant bid could make the Rossoneri wobble.

According to Calciomercato, an €80M proposal has been rebuffed. While nobody is untouchable in Serie A when the figures reach a certain threshold, he’s as close as it gets to such a label. It may take somebody offering more than €100M for the front office to consider the matter.

Maignan was discontent with Paolo Maldini’s ousting, but that doesn’t mean he wants to leave Milan. Per Gianluca Di Marzio (via SOSFanta), Chelsea would like to tender a proposal, but the Rossoneri didn’t provide an opening to even mull the shot-stoppers’ departure. He joined in a €15.4M move from Lille in 2021. His contract is up in three years.

The 27-year-old missed a recent game with France due to a calf injury. His team was on high alert because he spent months on the mend with issues in the area in 2022/2023. However, the problem is minor in this case.

Our Take on Milan, Maignan, and Chelsea

If the Blues were really in the hunt for a new goalie, they would have probably gone all-in on André Onana in the recent meeting with Inter. They would have found more fertile ground, and the Cameroonian has a lower price tag. Perhaps they will end up rolling with Kepa Arrizabalaga after he bounced back in the previous campaign.
