Milan have put out feelers about other strikers but continue to be focused on trying to sign Joshua Zirkzee. He has been their preferred option to succeed Olivier Giroud for months. On the other hand, they need to be willing to spend to come to terms with his entourage, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Rossoneri have the inside track over foreign suitors since the player would like to stay in Italy. They’d give him a starring role right away. Insted, that would be more uncertain if he moved abroad. He’s keen on the destination.
The negotiation with the striker’s camp is the main obstacle in the Zirkzee deal for Milan. His price tag is €40M thanks to a release clause. However, their front office is unwilling to pay €15M in commissions and a signing bonus. They are in talks with Kia Joorabchian to lower those requests to €5M or so. Instead, the wages, while fairly robust, shouldn’t be a major obstacle.
The Rossoneri have been pretty stern in dealing with agents in recent years. They have also inquired about Romelu Lukaku. He’s currently the main alternative since he’s easier to acquire than Santiago Gimenez and Benjamin Sesko, even though Chelsea turned down their loan request. His valuation is pretty much the same as the Dutchman’s.

While it’s commendable to be hardliners on some slightly shady things, everything is set up for them to get the Bologna ace. They shouldn’t let him slip away for a matter of a few million.
