Milan Revisit Tottenham for Senegal Midfield Prodigy

With the loss of Renato Sanches to Paris Saint-Germain, Milan are forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements. Their hunt has taken them back to familiar transfer market allies Tottenham Hotspur, where youngster Pape Matar Sarr awaits.

Antonio Conte is getting a first-hand look at Sarr this pre-season after it was decided that the 19-year-old would stay put at boyhood club Metz on loan in 2021/22 after Spurs acquired him.

The latest reports from Tuttosport (via MilanNews) indicate that Spurs would not want to send away Sarr on loan with a future option to buy since they do not want to lose out on him entirely. They are open to sending him out on another temporary spell. However, Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are averse to accepting such formula for Sarr. Instead, they want the opportunity to purchase him at a set clause down the line.

No official approaches have been made yet. Nevertheless, the exciting midfield prospect is in line to be included in the Tottenham squad for their Premier League season opener against Southampton.

Given the recent developments, Sarr has become of the main candidates to shore up the Milan midfield. The other ones are Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi, Lens’ Seko Fofana and Spurs’ Tanguy Ndombélé.
