Milan loanee fullback Sergino Dest has impressed the club with his performances at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The USMNT right-back played the last match of the tournament in the 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands in the Round of 16 stage, but nonetheless helped the Americans progress through the group stages with impressive displays.
As per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, his performances have been taken into account by the Rossoneri management, as they seek to make him a permanent transfer at the end of the season. Despite falling behind Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu in Stefano Pioli’s starting eleven, Milan are interested in keeping the 22-year-old wingback.
His buyout clause with Barcelona is set at €20M, and it should not be an issue for Milan to trigger the deal. The report indicates that it arrives as a win-win situation for both clubs, as the Blaugrana intend to cash in on Dest who failed to impress coach Xavi Hernandez, whereas Milan actively seek defensive reinforcements for the near future.
Dest has appeared 9 times for Milan this season, however most of his 373 minutes of game time so far have come off the bench.
