Milan and Rafael Leao are primed to sign on the dotted lines of the new contract with just a slight delay compared to the latest rumors. The parties have finalized every detail. They will make it official Friday, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Despite a rollercoaster ride and some advisors pulling him away, the Portuguese forward never seriously wavered from his intention to stay put. He and the club had struck an agreement in principle a way back. However, he wanted to settle his legal dispute with Sporting CP and Lille first.
Milan reportedly contributed by tweaking some clauses related to the previous acquisition of Leao from the Ligue 1 side and a signing bonus. The new deal will last until 2028. The previous one would have expired next year. The winger will earn €5M annually plus bonuses. The pact includes a release clause, but it has been set at €175M.
