Milan Set to Complete Another Attacking Signing

After securing a deal for RB Salzburg prodigy Noah Okafor, Milan could soon be on the verge of recruiting another attacking prospect. Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports negotiations with Villarreal for Samuel Chukwueze’s switch to San Siro have reached the final stages.

Talks between Villarreal and Milan over the quicksilver forward’s move to Serie A have gathered momentum in recent days. After being put off by the Spaniards’ demands for the 24-year-old initially, the Rossoneri have reignited their effort to reinforce the right wing lately.

Despite Chukwueze’s contract running out in 2024, Villarreal have slapped a substantial €35 million price tag on the winger’s head. However, the player’s desire to team up with Milan has made the Yellow Submarine change their mind and lower their claims.

Per Romano, Milan will fork out around €20m plus add-ons to get the deal over the line. Stefano Pioli’s men have agreed upon personal terms with the Nigerian a while ago. But persuading Villarreal to sell one of their standout performers has been a tricky part.

Weeks of relentless efforts paid off on Friday as Milan finally found a breakthrough. On the same day they captured the signature of Okafor, the Rossoneri made a decisive step toward completing another high-profile attacking acquisition.

Chukwueze’s imminent arrival probably drops the curtain on Junior Messias’ career at Milan. The ex-Crotone forward failed to impress last season. Therefore, his name has been among the first to finish on the chopping block, alongside underachieving Charles De Ketelaere.
