Milan Set to Complete the Signing of Alessandro Florenzi

Milan have sealed the deal for Alessandro Florenzi. The Euro champion will take the medicals and perfect the move shortly. He will join on a season-long loan with option to buy, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Roma would have preferred a permanent sale but settled for this formula. Milan will pay a €1M fee right away and €4.5M if they wanted to acquire him next summer, Gianluca Di Marzio informs. It is the third straight loan for Florenzi. He played for half a season at Valencia in 2019-2020. Instead, he spent the previous campaign at PSG. He accumulated 36 appearances with the French club, scoring twice.

Milan had been looking for a right-back to pair up with Davide Calabria. They wanted to bring back Diogo Dalot. However, Manchester United did not let him go out on loan again. The Rossoneri opted for a more experienced player that can also feature in other roles. They have been trying to move onto Samu Castillejo. The talks with few Spanish clubs, in particular Getafe, have not led to his departure yet.

The 30-year-old defender was part of the Italy squad that won the Euro. He was supposed to be starting right-back, but he got hurt in the first match, and Giovanni Di Lorenzo took over. Florenzi has been a staple for Roma for seven years. However, the relationship between the club and the player splintered in the first season with Paulo Fonseca at the helm, leading to his first departure.
