Milan Shortlist Liverpool-Linked Fluminense Midfielder

Milan have set sights on André Trindade in their search for a new defensive-minded midfielder. Liverpool are reportedly after the Fluminense talent as well. He’s under contract with his team until 2026, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

The Rossoneri are evaluating several names to bolster the position. The Brazilian youngster joins Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer, and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in their list of targets.

Milan have scouted André Trindade a few times throughout the season and have been impressed by his skillset, Calciomercato informs. He’s very aggressive and recovers a lot of balls. In addition, he had a 91,8 percent pass precision last year, which was better than even Rodri and Toni Kroos.

The Fluminense product started playing regularly with the first team in 2020. He already has 185 appearances under his belt across all competitions, including 24 in Copa Libertadores. He has tallied 4 goals and 3 assists. The 21-year-old has 5 caps with Brazil.

Our Take on Milan and André Trindade

They seem to be looking for a gritty and versatile player and not a pure deep-lying playmaker that would necessarily force them to use 4-3-3, maintaining the flexibility to deploy 4-2-3-1 when needed and if Paulo Fonseca decides to field Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a no.10, as Stefano Pioli eventually. Basically, somebody similar to Sandro Tonali. He’d fit the mold. They are more likely to sign somebody with a high ceiling rather than a veteran outcast. On the other hand, it remains to be seen how much he’d cost.
