Milan Shortlist Three Top Strikers to Shore Up Attack

Milan will not stop at Divock Origi to bolster their attack ahead of next season. The takeover, whether by RedBird or Investcorp, will give them ammunition for a pair of high-level acquisitions. The scenario would not change much if Elliott stayed at the helm.

According to Calciomercato, Zlatan Ibrahimovic would continue to have a limited role if he decided to keep playing. Olivier Giroud has another year left on his contract and will be heavily involved. The Liverpool super-sub will play in multiple roles.

Milan are weighing whether to focus their budget for the attack on a big-ticket center-forward, or split the money to bring in an elite right winger as well. In the first instance, they have three names atop their list: RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, and Lille’s Jonathan David. They are all extremely expensive. It would likely take €60M to onboard any of them, but they have proven their worth this season.

The German club plans to put up strong resistance for the Frenchman. The Uruguayan starlet will be the subject of an international bidding war. The Rossoneri could try to exploit their strong relationship with Lille to sign the 22-year-old Canadian striker. A triple swoop including Sven Botman and Renato Sanches may not be a farfetched proposition.

Instead, Marcos Asensio and Domenico Berardi would be their primary marks if they decided to strengthen the right flank as well. The initial approaches with the Real Madrid forward were not productive due to his requests on wages.
