Milan Standout Performer Draw Interest from Real Madrid

Reigning Champions League holders Real Madrid have reportedly placed a watchful eye on Milan vice-captain Theo Hernandez. According to Spanish news outlet Sport, Los Merengues have identified the France international as a fallback option should their pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies come a cropper.

Real Madrid seemed on the verge of signing the Canadian left-back until not long ago. With his contract at the Allianz Arena running out in 2025, he looked destined to join forces with Carlo Ancelottis’ all-conquering side, but there’s been a twist in the tale. He’s now closer to staying put, throwing Milan at risk of losing one of their standout performers.

Adding a new left-back is one of the Spaniards’ priorities this summer. And if they can’t lure Davies away from Munich, they’ll try to convince Hernandez to head back to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman left Spain to link up with Milan for a reported fee of €22.8m in the summer of 2019.

Hernandez’s deal at Milan expires in 2026, but Milan are keen to tie him down to a new contract. Despite previously rejecting the idea of returning to Real Madrid, the Frenchman could change his mind now that he would be a regular starter. That paints a bleak picture for the Rossoneri, who are desperate to keep hold of their star defender.

While awaiting the resolution of the Davies affair with bated breath, Milan have reportedly reached out to Adrien Rabiot to discuss an audacious switch to San Siro. He’s out of contract at the end of June, with last season’s Serie A runners-up spotting a window of opportunity.
