Milan Star Giroud Rules Out One Future Destination

Olivier Giroud admitted a few weeks ago that he didn’t know yet whether he would stay at Milan, as his contract expires at the end of the season, but he already excluded one possible landing spot for the future taking to French publication Ouest-France ahead of the Europa League clash with Rennes.

“I’ve always appreciated president François Pinault. We were neighbors for some time in London, and our wives were friendly. There was some interest from them in the past. It’s always a pleasure to perceive the fondness for me in France. I love Brittany, but going back isn’t in my plans at this stage.”

Giroud already faced Rennes with Chelsea four years ago.

“I didn’t start that night but scored the game-winning goal. We need to pay attention because they have good players and a quality coach. What Steve Mandanda and I experienced together, in particular the 2018 World Cup, makes us sports brothers. I see that he’s not giving up either, as he extended his contract until 2025.”

Giroud is still going strong this season. He ranks third in the Serie A’s scoring chart with 12 goals, 4 of which on penalty kicks, behind only the much younger Lautaro Martinez (19) and Dusan Vlahovic (12).

Should he elect to leave Milan, the Frenchman has been rumored to be keen on finishing his career in the MLS, but he will make the call only at the end of the season.
