Mike Maignan headed to France for international duties following the win over Roma. Les Bleus are practicing in Paris, where he got his start at the youth level before departing and blossoming at Lille.
The goalkeeper left the door open for a potential return at PSG down the line during an event with some local kids, Le Parisen informs (via La Gazzetta dello Sport). He started by addressing the Champions League clash against the French champions. They and the Rossoneri have been paired up in the group of death.
“I’ve already faced them with Lille, so I’m familiar with their stadium. It will be a great game with a speedy tempo, just as I like it.”
Maignan was quizzed on a potential reunion.
“I’m a Parisian but I’m under contract with Milan currently. You never know what could happen in the future.”
The 28-year-old starred in the PSG’s youth academy from 2009 to 2015 but never played with the first team. He joined Lille in a €1M move in 2015 and debuted in the pros later that year. He took over the starting job in 2017/2018 and defended the sticks for Les Dogues for four seasons, massively contributing to their title in 2021/2021.
Maignan switched sides after the triumph, as Milan acquired him for €15M. He’s under contract till 2026 but is reportedly in talks for a new deal.
