Milan Still Have Faith in De Ketelaere, Claims Agent

Charles De Ketelaere will stay at Milan and is eager to bounce back after struggling to make an impact in his first season, his agent Tom De Mul told some Belgian outlets before the start of the U21 European Championship (via Calciomercato).

“The Rossoneri believe in him 100 percent. Paolo Maldini was a major supporter, but he has been replaced by the head scout that facilitated his acquisition. He looked at himself in the mirror and he’s aware he’s being judged because it was a large transfer. He realizes that he can give a lot more, but he has all the qualities to succeed.”

The representative is confident De Ketelaere will eventually find his footing at Milan.

“He’s not the first talent that needs time to adjust after moving to a top European club. He’ll undergo the entire summer preparation this time. We hope he’ll have a good campaign.”

The Belgian prodigy joined in a €36.5M deal from Club Brugge last summer. He has appeared in 40 matches but contributed to just one goal through an assist. He was mostly a backup in the final few months as Stefano Pioli fielded more effective options.

De Ketelaere will no longer have to compete for minutes with Brahim Diaz, who left Milan to return to Real Madrid at the end of his loan spell, but will most likely split time with Daichi Kamada. Despite some technical delays, which are being handled, the Japanese trequartista will indeed join the Rossoneri on a Bosman move, Sky reports.
