Rafael Leao has delivered a verdict on his future at Milan after scoring a winning goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Fiorentina. Despite being linked with several top European clubs, the 24-year-old insists he’s happy at San Siro.
Leao showed supernatural speed in tonight’s win in Florence, storming past Fiorentina defenders and goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano to give Milan a fourth consecutive triumph in Serie A. Before settling an action-packed fixture in a moment of brilliance, he set up Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the opening goal.
Milan could’ve netted more, but Terracciano was superb in goal, especially in the first half, registering six saves, including a fantastic stop to deny Leao from an acute angle. However, the Portugal international eventually inspired Stefano Pioli’s side to their first success at Artemio Franchi since March 2021.
Speaking to the press in the aftermath, Leao named Milan his home, admitting he’s eager to adhere to his contract. The forward’s deal at San Siro runs out in 2028, which puts Rossoneri in a strong bargaining position ahead of the summer transfer window.
“I have a contract, you never know what the future holds. However, my heart and mind are with Milan, this is my home, they helped me grow as a player and I am happy here,” Leao said, as quoted by MilanNews.
Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as genuine suitors for Leao, reportedly earmarking the Milan talisman as a perfect long-term replacement for the outgoing Kylian Mbappe. But Rossoneri will undoubtedly use every tool at their disposal to fend off the perennial Ligue 1 champions this summer.
