Milan Target Reiterates Desire to Join on Social Media

When it looked like Milan are losing their grip on the Youssouf Fofana deal, the wantaway Monaco midfielder poured the gasoline on fire. In a social media correspondence with his international colleague, Moussa Diaby, the Frenchman reiterated his desire to join the Rossoneri this summer.

Diaby, who swapped Aston Villa for Al-Ittihad in a mega-money transfer in July, urged Fofana to pledge his future to Milan in his recent social media post.

“Come to Milan, champion,” Diaby wrote on Instagram. “If you say so, my brother,“ Fofana replied, as reported by Calciomercato. The ex-Strasbourg men’s comments have reignited the flame amid Paulo Fonseca’s relentless effort to add to his midfield options.

Milan and Fofana agreed on personal terms almost a month ago. The 25-year-old is enthusiastic about continuing at the Stadio San Siro, but Monaco are blocking the deal. Fofana’s contract in the French principality runs out in less than a year.

Seemingly unfazed by their star’s contractual wobble, Les Monégasques are sticking to their €25 million price tag. Aware of the player’s desire to leave Ligue 1, Milan are gunning for a discount. They’ve been patient, but the clock is ticking.

With less than a month left to run in the current transfer window and the new Serie A campaign kicking off in a fortnight, Milan would be well-advised to lodge a concrete offer soon.
