Milan Target Touted Not to Be The Main Priority for PSG

Milan and PSG are engaged in a slow-moving duel for Renato Sanches. The Rossoneri have made strong progress in the talks with Lille. Instead, the French champions have the ear of his agent.

An assist to the Scudetto winners might come from coach Christophe Galtier, L’Equipe reports. The Parisians have further options to bolster their midfield. Les Dogues ace was not their top target, as they prioritized, and signed, Vitinha from Porto first. They are also pursuing Seko Fofana, but Lens are putting up strong resistance. The gaffer advised the front office to make an attempt for Kephren Thuram, whom he managed last season.

Still, Renato Sanches has a clear connection with the boss and director Luis Campos, and that keeps PSG in the race even though Milan have an agreement in principle with Lille. According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri had come to terms with Jorge Mendes on a €3.2M salary during the spring. However, the attempt by Ligue 1 powerhouse drove up his demands to €4.5M annually. Such wages would be on par with the highest-paid players in the Rossoneri squad.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, rather than partaking in the bidding war, are playing the waiting game. According to the publication, the counterparty is ready to accept their €10M offer plus €5M add-ons. Instead, the rivals have not tabled a formal bid.

Our Take on Milan, PSG and Renato Sanches

The Italian side does need somebody in the role, but they are not desperate in terms of depth. They will make an addition only if it really improves the quality of their roster. Given the terms of the deal, it is worth seeing it out. They have not seriously moved onto other targets, which likely means that they are still pretty confident.
