Milan to Challenge Manchester City in Race for Touted Brazilian Starlet

Milan are preparing for a future without Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The contract of the 40-year-old striker expires next June, and he is having a tough season from an injury standpoint. If he did not stick around, the Rossoneri would bring in a younger option to partner with Olivier Giroud, Tuttomercatoweb reports.

In that regard, Milan are among the teams following Yuri Alberto very closely. The Internacional striker has scored 18 times in 49 matches this season. He has drawn interest from multiple big clubs, including Manchester City. The Brazilian side has set a €20M price tag to sell the 20-year-old attacker, but it could quickly balloon.

Milan has reached out to some intermediaries to begin a negotiation with the Porto Alegre-based outfit, the site adds. The talented forward joined in 2020 on a free transfer from Santos. He has found the target 28 times and provided 5 assists in 78 appearances. He has two caps with Brazil U-23.

The Rossoneri are also among the frontrunners to sign Andrea Belotti on a free transfer from Torino. Coach Ivan Juric was asked about the future of the Italian striker in the pre-game presser before the trip to San Siro. He confirmed that the player would not put pen-to-paper on an extension anytime soon and that the parties would take stock at the end of the season. The gaffer ruled out the departure of his offensive linchpin in January. The Italian forward has been rumored to have Milan atop his shortlist of future destinations.
