Milan to Face Former and Maybe Future Target in Porto Match

Jesus Tecatito Corona could have played today’s game between Milan and Porto with a different jersey. The attacker was on the Rossoneri’s radar up until the final days of the window. The management shortlisted him, Brest’s Roman Faivre, and Junior Messias as the final piece of the squad, Goal.com reports.

In the end, Milan came to terms with Crotone on deadline day, bringing in the most approachable target. But they were highly interested in Corona. The contract of the 28-year-old expires in June 2022. The front office of the Italian side thought they could get him at a discount price given the situation.

Instead, Porto did not budge and slapped a €15M price tag on him, and Milan moved on to other options. Plus, there was likely too little time to put together an international transfer. The Rossoneri have not stopped monitoring him for the future.

It appears unlikely that the Mexican winger will come to terms on an extension. He asked for €6M wages in the latest meeting with the club. The Dragoes put the talks on hold because they did not want to pay that much. Hector Herrera ended up leaving the club after demanding a similar salary.

On top of Milan, also Sevilla are also intensively pursuing Corona, the site reports. More teams are set to join the race if he ultimately departs on a free transfer. The situation has also affected him this season, as he is no longer an untouchable starter like in the past.
