Milan will have another summit later today with Gordon Stipic, the representative of Hakan Calhanoglu, to try to come to terms to extend his expiring contract. While there has always been optimism the renewal will get eventually get done, the two sides are about €1M apart on the wages, Gazzetta dello Sport’s transfer market expert Carlo Laudisa reported.
The agent asks for €5M, while the club is offering €4M: they could meet in the middle, maybe through some easily achievable bonuses. The outlets indicate that Ivan Gazidis has received the mandate from ownership to contain the payroll as much as possible and it is now down to €90M.
The outcome of the negotiation could influence the renewals of other players looking for a new contract and a raise like Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessié, whose requests will be calibrated on how much the Turkish international gets.
The journalist added that the meeting will probably will not lead directly to putting pen-to-paper and some new ones will likely be necessary to finalize the agreement, but it could be a turning point in the talks and speed up the process. The attacker would tie himself to the club until 2025.
