Milan to Offload Fringe Winger Samu Castillejo to La Liga

Out-of-favor winger Samu Castillejo could leave Milan in the final days of the transfer window, with a move to Getafe reportedly on the cards. According to MilanNews, the Spanish forward may soon return to his homeland following a topsy-turvy three-year spell at the San Siro.

Castillejo has been a marginal figure at Milan, never managing to hit the ground running in Serie A since arriving from Villarreal in summer 2018.

Despite offloading Jens Petter Hauge earlier in the summer, the Rossoneri are not convinced by the prospect of keeping hold of Castillejo. His underwhelming tally of 3 goals from 43 competitive appearances last season is unlikely to help his cause in Lombardy.

Rafael Leao, Ante Rebic, and Alexis Saelemaekers are all above the Spaniard in the pecking order. Castillejo has two years left to run of his current contract, and this could be a final opportunity for Milan to get the most out of his sale.

As a result, he could be on the move in the final stage of the transfer window. After a rumored interest from Sevilla and Villarreal, Getafe now look to be in pole position to land the 26-year-old.

Milan are in contention to sign Jesus Corona from Porto. However, the club’s financial struggle requires I Rossoneri to raise funds to meet the Portuguese side’s high demands. The Mexican winger would be an immediate upgrade on Stefano Pioli’s current attacking options.

Unfortunately for Milan supporters, the deal looks complicated at the moment. Paolo Maldini is also working on landing Romain Faivre from Brest. But there’s still a gap between the Italians’ bid and the Ligue 1 team’s evaluation.
