Milan to Cash In on Thiaw Only for a Very Sizeable Bid

Milan could sell Malick Thiaw for a hefty offer but would be happy to keep him if that didn’t happen. Newcastle United haven’t come back with an offer after showing strong interest a couple of weeks ago. The Rossoneri have added another prospective regular, Strahinja Pavlovic, in the meantime.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Magpies are also chasing after Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi. They’ll sign just one of the two, probably the least expensive one. Elite Premier League defenders have routinely transferred for massive fees in recent windows.

Thiaw wouldn’t be a bargain either, as Milan want €40M, or something close to it, to sell him. They can also count on Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, and Pierre Kalulu at the position, although the Frenchman can star as a right-back too.

While the Rossoneri would be stacked if everybody stayed, having so many options could turn out to be a problem during the season in a delicate position where having the right chemistry between the starters is key. The brass is open for business to finance additions in other roles, but only at the right price.

Our Take on Milan and Thiaw

It’d be a logjam but they might still be scarred by what happened last season, when an injury-related emergency depleted them for a couple of months, forcing them to hastily recall Gabbia from the loan to Villarreal, who was actually very steady. All things considered, it’s a fair stance.
