The top executives of the Rossoneri had a summit with the agents of Douglas Luiz yesterday at Casa Milan. The midfielder has just a year on his contract. Aston Villa could sell him for a good offer, especially having already snatched a strong replacement in Boubacar Kamara.
According to Calciomercato, it was just an initial contact between the parties. Renato Sanches remains the top target to replace Franck Kessié. In addition, directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara need to re-up with the club before completing any transfer.
Despite his contractual situation, Douglas Luiz would figure to be a more expensive acquisition than the Lille star for Milan. Multiple Premier League sides are eyeing him as well. Roma are very keen on him too, Corriere dello Sport informs. It would take at least €20/25M to onboard the Brazilian, but the competition could further drive up his price tag.
While PSG are trying to hijack the Rossoneri’s pursuit of Sanches, but he is not the only midfielder in their crosshairs. They have also made an offer for Lens’ Seko Fofana and appear closer to coming to terms for him, L’Equipe reports.
Our Take on Milan Keeping Tabs on Douglas Luiz
The management is just doing the due diligence, waiting to see how things turn out for their long-standing objective. The Aston Villa ace would make more sense technically and tactically than Hamed Traorè, who has been rumored to be a fallback too. But the versatility, and likely lower cost, of Sanches remains more alluring.
