Milan Unlikely to Acquire Manchester City Wantaway Playmaker

Milan have been linked to Bernardo Silva in recent days, but it does not look like he will be a viable option. The Rossoneri are searching for a new.10, although Brahim Diaz shined in the debut versus Sampdoria. The Portuguese star is trying to leave Manchester City, but the deal would most likely be too expensive for them, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Italian side is looking for a player with his traits. They want somebody who could feature either as an attacking midfielder or on the right wing. On the other hand, Silva currently earns €8M and would be the highest-paid player on the Milan roster. Despite his desire to depart, the Citizens will not let him go at a low fee.

The 27-year-old attacker joined the English side in a €50M move from Monaco in 2017. Pep Guardiola confirmed that he asked out following the addition of Jack Grealish. Moreover, Silva was not as influential as in the past in the 2020-2021 season. “The players who wish to leave know the door is open because we do not want anyone here unsatisfied, but they have to bring someone. Otherwise, they will stay here,” the coach remarked.

The Portuguese attacker was targeted by Atletico Madrid earlier in August, Eurosport reports. Milan are instead monitoring more affordable options. Well-connected journalist Carlo Pellegatti confirmed that Silva was not among them. At this stage, Jesus Corona and Junior Messias appear to be the frontrunners. However, the Milan brass is pursuing multiple candidates, and a last-minute surprise is possible, Tuttosport informs.
