Milan Want Brahim Diaz to Stay But the Ball is in Real Madrid’s Court

Milan midfield ace Brahim Diaz has proven himself at the club already, playing a key part in the Rossoneri’s rise back to the pedestal of Serie A. He is currently in his second and last year of loan from Real Madrid, but Milan want him to stay put for the near future.

According to Spanish outlet AS, much will depend on Real Madrid’s plans for the future. The ball is reportedly in the court of the European champions, who included an option to buy for €22M as part of the loan deal that was signed in 2021. However, a buy-back clause also exists for just five million more for Los Blancos.

Milan on the other hand, are heavily impressed with the Spanish international’s talent and skills in the final-third and are keen to extend his stay, perhaps with a permanent transfer.

However, the Rossoneri’s say in this matter will be limited, as Real Madrid ponder life after several departures – some of them incoming. Gaps have been left open by the exits of Isco and Gareth Bale, whereas Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio are both expected to leave at the end of the season. Diaz could force his way into the plans of Carlo Ancelotti.

Diaz’s development at Milan has been immense and talks are expected to be held between both the European giants sooner rather than later. His Real Madrid contract expires in the summer of 2025.
