Milan Welcome Inter Taking a Tumble but Stay Grounded

Milan rejoiced for Inter slipping up in Wednesday’s make-up game, as they are now in control of the title race. While the turn of events was unexpectedly favorable, the Rossoneri remain wary of the difficulty of the challenges that lie ahead to win the Scudetto. The morale was high after such result, but not over the moon, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

Nicola Sansone, who is a Milan fan, joked after taking advantage of Andrei Radu’s blunder: “I hope Paolo Maldini or another of their directors gives me a call to thank me and maybe set up a loan, so I can play in Champions League next season.”

On paper, Milan have a tougher schedule as they will face Fiorentina, Verona, Atalanta, and Sassuolo to finish the season. Two of their next opponents are fighting to qualify for a European berth, while the others are notoriously pesky.

Instead, Inter will square off against Udinese, Empoli, Cagliari and Sampdoria. The first two are in decent form but have already clinched their permanence in Serie A. The Sardinians and the Blucerchiati are currently involved in the relegation struggle.

Milan would edge Inter if they finished with the same points. Thanks to the clutch victory in February’s Derby, they are in the lead in the head-to-head matches. Therefore, the Rossoneri do not need to win all the remaining fixtures. They would mathematically be champions with three victories and a draw.

Their training staff is looking to recover Ismael Bennacer for the Viola tilt. He has practiced on the side after missing the previous match with an ankle sprain. Brahim Diaz or Rade Krunic would fill in for him if he could not go again. Instead, Tiemoué Bakayoko has fallen off the rotation since he will leave at the end of the season.
