Milan Whittle Down List of Potential Defensive Targets

Milan are considering a few options to replace the injured Simon Kjaer in January. If possible, they would prefer a long-term solution. But their top objectives are pricey, and their respective teams will not let them go too easily.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Rossoneri are eyeing in particular Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, and Lille’s Sven Botman. The Blues defender is on an expiring contract, but his club recently offered him a lucrative four-year extension, Metro reports. Milan are in a holding pattern to see whether he will accept it. They acquired Fikayo Tomori from the Pensioners in the recent past.

Stefano Pioli is a big proponent of Milenkovic, whom he already coached. But the Viola are not keen on selling any of their linchpins in January. They are gearing up for a push to return in a European competition. The 24-year-old appeared destined to leave last summer. However, the new gaffer Vincenzo Italiano convinced him to stay and prolong his pact.

The Milan director are very high on Botman, who perfectly fits the bill of what they are looking for, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. They have already done business with Lille. On the other hand, the Dutch center-back is in high demand, and the Rossoneri do not like to partake in bidding wars. Atalanta and Roma eyed him last summer. Newcastle are intensely chasing after him now, The Guardian reports. Among other objectives, Luiz Felipe seems likely to stay at Lazio and re-up his contract.
