Milan Will Have to Spend Big to Sign Their Top Targets

Milan have lofty targets to objectives for their frontline, in particular Nicolò Zaniolo and Charles De Ketelaere, but it would take major investments to purchase them. The Rossoneri have gotten in touch with Roma and Club Brugge. The two negotiations have not gained a lot of momentum until this point.

According to TuttoSport, Roma could sell their starlet because his extension talks have been challenging. However, they want €50/60M. They are not keen on getting players in return as partial makeweights. The Belgian outfit demands €40/45M for their ace.

Milan are looking for a difference-maker at no.10 and on the right flank, and Zaniolo and De Ketelaere are not necessarily mutually exclusive schematically. If the Rossoneri found another trequartista, they could send Brahim Diaz back to Real Madrid early, Calciomercato informs. That could be the case especially if Marcos Asensio left Los Merengues.

The Italian champions have some work to do on those fronts. Instead, they are closer to acquiring Renato Sanches. They are nearing an agreement with Lille on a €20M fee and with the player on €4M wages, Tuttomercatoweb reports.

Our Take on Milan Tracking Zaniolo and De Ketelaere

The Rossoneri are set for a major offensive acquisition this summer. The size of the investment will be telling. Elliott has bankrolled pricey deals but never gotten this high. It remains to be seen whether things will change under RedBird Capital. Milan signing both Zaniolo and De Ketelaere sounds like a stretch financially speaking, though.

The bigwigs also have a tactical decision to make. The squad fared well very with a physical no.10, either Franck Kessié or Rade Krunic, in their final Scudetto push. Renato Sanches can fill in there, but paying top money for a technical player would force the coach to lean heavily on such newcomer.
