Milan Would Benefit from PSG Signing Reject Thriving at Lyon

PSG have laid their eyes on Lucas Paquetá, and the deal could have positive ramifications for Milan as well. The Rossoneri would cash in a sizeable percentage from his sale as per the previous agreement with Olympique Lyonnais.

According to L’Equipe, the Brazilian midfielder could replace Angel Di Maria, who is on an expiring contract. He is in talks with the club to extend it, but the parties have yet to come to terms. Moreover, the management would like to make the squad younger next season. The Argentinian veteran could be a casualty of such proposition.

PSG director Leonardo brought Paquetá to Europe during his time leading the Milan front office. The 24-year-old has bounced back in Ligue 1 after flopping with the Rossoneri. He has tallied 18 goals and 11 assists in 64 matches so far.

Olympique Lyonnais have set a sky-high evaluation for their ace, but the executive plans to make a strong attempt to sign him. The Italian club will receive 15-20 percent of the fee. They are pulling for the transfer to go through and that Les Gones drive up the price as much as possible.

The Brazilian international moved to Italy in a €38M move from Flamengo in 2019. However, he did not live up to expectations. Milan shipped Paquetá off to France for €20M a year later, where he has looked like a different player, drawing the attention of PSG and other big clubs. He has become a regular with the Seleçao too, for which he has scored 6 goals in 29 appearances.
