Milenkovic Expresses Long-Term Commitment to Fiorentina

Nikola Milenkovic could have departed Fiorentina in each of the last two summer windows, but Vincenzo Italiano convinced him to stay, and he agreed to a multi-year contract last August. The defender stated that he fully planned to respect it in his post-game remarks to DAZN after facing Atalanta (via Fantacalcio).

“I don’t want to answer questions about the future right now. We are in a very important stretch of the season for the team. Everything will be at stake in the next few games. I inked a five-year contract, and I’m only focused on Fiorentina at the moment.”

Milenkovic dished on the draw with Atalanta.

“We had a very good performance, as it’s always tough to face them. There were a ton of duels, as we defend in similar fashion. We answered the bell. It’s not easy to contain them since they have a menacing frontline, but we were capable. Our regret is that they scored on their only chance.”

Our Take on Milenkovic and Fiorentina

The Viola tend to make contracts worth more than other sides, so the fact he tied himself down for a while likely removes him from the rumor mill for the summer, especially because the club holds all the leverage and can set any price tag they like.

Inter are surely regretting not cashing in on Milan Skriniar last summer and going after the Serb before he re-upped. They would have taken a small hit quality-wise, but they would have been in a much better spot now. There aren’t as many dependable, physical, and commanding center-backs as the Gigliati star available without breaking the bank.
