Milenkovic Officially Signs Extension with Fiorentina

As rumored lately, Nikola Milenkovic isn’t leaving Fiorentina. On the contrary, he inked a long-term contract with the club. He is now tied to the Viola until 2027.

The defender spoke in a presser (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“It’s a very important day for me. I’m happy and excited. Last summer, after two tough seasons, neither the club nor me were fully convinced about partying ways. I asked to speak with the brass to assess the plans. The arrival of Vincenzo Italiano was decisive to me. That’s why I re-upped with the promise of revisiting the situation this summer. I realized that there is a great project and major ambitions here. We all see what kind of team is being constructed. The coach signing a new deal was critical.”

Milenkovic thanked the Fiorentina faithful and recalled his best moment thus far.

“I feel very beloved here, and that has been the case especially in the last few days. The management worked hard to keep me here. Qualifying for a European competition was the top achievement. It would be even nicer if we could play in the Champions League.”

The defender is open to finishing his career with the Viola.

“This is pivotal choice for my future. It’s early to think that far ahead but I’m great in Florence. We’ll see. Donning the captain armband is a great honor. Cristiano Biraghi is the designated guy right now and he’s doing it very well.”

Milenkovic underlined what led to his decision to stick with Fiorentina.

“The club, the supporters and the coach. I simply felt that this was the best solution. I love this city and this team and I couldn’t betray my feelings.”
