Milinkovic-Savic Seeking Way Out of Lazio Amid Man Utd Talks

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Mateja Kezman is trying to find a destination for his client, with Lazio ready to negotiate the midfielder’s sale. As per Gazzetta dello Sport, the Biancocelesti bigwig Claudio Lotito is sticking to his guns, meaning it will take around €70m to take his most prized asset away from Rome.

For years, Milinkovic-Savic has been the standout midfielder at Lazio. His playmaking skills and scoring prowess have often been off the charts among his Serie A peers in the past few seasons. The 27-year-old racked up a whopping 11 goals and 11 assists in Italy’s top flight in 2021/22.

Aware of the Serb’s significance to Maurizio Sarri’s set-up, Lotito is desperate to keep hold of the sought-after playmaker. However, Milinkovic-Savic’s intricate contractual situation could force Lazio to consider cashing in on his services this summer.

With two years left to run on his current deal at the Stadio Olimpico, Milinkovic-Savic could soon be heading through the exit door. The player has displayed no ambition to extend his contract, knowing it would hinder his bid to secure a high-profile move in the coming years.

At 27, Milinkovic-Savic’s career is at a crossroads. Despite his household status in Serie A, he faces the risk of overextending his stay at Lazio. In order to prevent that, he has instructed his representative Kezman to find an offer that would satisfy Lotito.

Where could Lazio star go?

Manchester United have shown a genuine interest in Milinkovic-Savic. However, the Red Devils are unwilling to go beyond €50m to close the deal. That is well off the mark, though, suggesting the Serbia international may have to wait another year to complete his switch to Old Trafford.

Following a busted attempt to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, Man Utd could accelerate their interest in Milnkovic-Savic. So it is hard to exclude the possibility for the towering midfielder to move to the Premier League this summer.
