During the second stage of the 2018/19, a teenage striker by the name of Moise Kean suddenly rose through the ranks at Juventus to become a starting option for Massimiliano Allegri.
Whilst the Bianconeri supporters thought to have found their long term solution for the center-forward role, the young Italian was shockingly sold to Everton in the following summer.
Giovanni Kean – the brother of the current Paris Saint Germain striker – spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), and revealed that the departure wasn’t instigated by financial reasons.
” The Juventus management never wanted to sell Moise (Kean). The transfer didn’t take place for economic reasons.
” I think it was a tactical choice made by the new manager,” said Giovanni Kean in a reference to Maurizio Sarri who replaced Allegri at Juventus in the summer of 2019.
” If Allegri had remained, Moise wouldn’t have left. He would still be at Juve, which is one of the top clubs in Europe,” claimed the striker’s sibling.
” In the presence of Paulo Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata the competition would have been tough, but there are also top players at PSG. Icardi is one of the best strikers out there, but he has played less matches than Moise.
Giovanni Kean also spoke about the role of the former Juventus forward within the Italian national team.
” There are so many strong players who can represent Italy, but Moise is the most complete striker that Roberto Mancini has at his disposal,” claimed Giovanni.
” He can play as a center forward but also as an outside striker on either flank. He has always dreamed of winning with the Azzurri jersey,” concluded Kean.
Therefore, if Sarri was indeed the reason behind the departure of Kean from Juventus to Everton, then it appears that his short tenure had done more harm than good for the club’s long term project.
