Monaco Threaten to Simply Keep Milan Target Fofana

Monaco are driving a very hard in the negotiation with Milan regarding Youssouf Fofana. The deal is further complicated by West Ham having offered more, but the player prefers the Rossoneri. Director Thiago Scuro addressed the situation in a presser (via Goal).

“We have a good relationship with him. There’s a lot of transparency and no conflict. We talk often, and my role is to protect the club. He’s behaving correctly and respectfully. There’s an agreement between us for him to leave Monaco this summer, which we struck last year. However, its conditions need to be respected.”

“Every negotiation has its challenging moments. That’s the case currently, but we’re working on a solution that works for him and us both. We hope there’ll be a positive resolution. He could also stay and leave as a free agent next season. His ambition is clear, though, and so is ours.”

The Ligue 1 side has turned down a €17M bid from Milan for Fofana. They value the midfielder €35M since West Ham are willing to reach such a figure. Instead, the Rossoneri have reached an agreement with the midfielder on a four-year contract with €3M wages.

Our Take on Milan and Fofana

The Serie A side will have to be patient as it’ll take time for the counterparty to lower their request and the 25-year-old will have to help them out. The gap is extremely large, so they might move on if nothing gives in a week or so.
