Monza Chief Adriano Galliani Cherishes Milan Memories

As Monza prepare to welcome Milan at the Stadio Brianteo, club chief Adriano Galliani has reflected on his affection for the Rossoneri. Galliani cherished 31 years as the CEO of Milan – from 1986 to 2017 – leading the club to unprecedented success with five UEFA Champions League and eight Scudetto titles during his tenure.

Speaking to Sky Sport (via MilanNews) in an exclusive, the football executive expressed his emotions in view of the weekend encounter.

“My heart is divided in half. Monza is the team of my city, but 31 years at Milan cannot be cancelled. They will always remain in my heart. On Saturday the emotions will be the same. It’s a dream to play a game like this.”

Along with former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Galliani maneuvered Milan’s reach to the pinnacle of club football, which he says will remain with him forever.

“On Saturday, Berlusconi will also be at the stadium. He promised he will be there. The president, like me, always says when he talks about Milan ‘we’. It will be ‘us’ against ‘us’. I will remain in religious silence on Saturday, I won’t move a muscle when and if Monza scores, nor if Milan do. I’ll do as in the first leg.”

The Biancorossi are currently on a eight-match unbeaten streak in the league, as they herald their way into the top-half of the standings with 16 games left to play. Milan on the other hand, arrive into the round on the back of two consecutive wins following a run of seven winless matches.
