Roma have been without a sporting director for a month and are primed for a meeting with a strong candidate for the job in the next Serie A round, when they’ll face Monza, François Modesto. The exec has been linked to them since they appointed Lina Souloukou as their CEO. The two worked together in the past, Il Messaggero informs (via SportPaper).
The apical exec has been more hands-on on the transfer market in January since Tiago Pinto was on his way out. If the decision were only up to her, the Brianzoli exec would already be in town. But the owners will weigh in as well.
The Roma chief is rumored to have already blocked Modesto for the future. They teamed up at Olympiacos from 2018 to 2022 under president Evangelos Marinakis, who controls Nottingham Forest too. The French director collaborated with the English club too.
Monza hired him as the head of the technical area in June 2022. He has assembled a prolific network of scouts over the years and would have more responsibilities with the Giallorossi since Adriano Galliani has a major role inside the Brianzoli.
