Monza Inches Away from Securing Inter-Owned Empoli Striker

Newly-promoted Monza have started off the transfer market by setting out huge plans to boost their ranks as they prepare to experience a first Serie A season in their 109-year history, as they are now reportedly one step away from completing their first big signing – Inter-owned striker Andrea Pinamonti, who starred at Empoli in last campaign.

Italian outlet SportMediaset claims an agreement between the Biancorossi and the Nerazzurri has been struck for that young center-forward and it is only ‘one step away’ from becoming official news. The deal for the attacking prodigy is said to be worth €19M.

Pinamonti’s impressive performances in Empoli colors have garnered attention from other Serie A clubs, including Fiorentina, Napoli and Bologna, as he racked in 13 goals and 2 assists from 37 appearances for the Tuscan side in his third loan spell since leaving Inter.

Monza, led by former Milan executives Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani, are aiming to finish high in the 2022/23 Serie A season. They have already drawn up a list of prospective transfers that include Stefano Sensi, Stephan El Shaarawy, Junior Messias and even soon-to-be free agent and Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli.

Our Take on Pinamonti at Monza

This is bound to be the 23-year-old’s first permanent experience outside the Nerazzurri ranks, having graduated from the club’s youth academy in 2017. He showed his worth in the top-flight last season with Empoli, netting crucial goals despite having an inconsistent season. Pinamonti’s poaching abilities in the final third make him a great addition to an inspired Monza outfit seeking a high finish in their first-ever Serie A season.
