Monza Making Audacious Attempt to Onboard Szczesny

Monza are hunting for a goalkeeper and will try to get one from the side they’ll sell Michele Di Gregorio to, Juventus, as they are eyeing Wojciech Szczesny. The Bianconeri are in advanced talks with Al-Nassr, but the negotiation slowed down after the early momentum.

According to Mediaset, the Brianzoli would need to get help from the Old Lady as they can’t afford the Pole’s €6M wages. The sellers would have to give the veteran a significant severance package for him to accept a large pay cut.

On the other hand, Monza have a chance because Szczesny would like to stay in Italy following his Juventus exit. His team values him €4/5M, which would be detracted from the Di Gregorio fee. The Italian shot-stopper is expected to formally join his new side this week. He’ll do it on loan with an obligation to buy for a total of €20M.

Despite his previous remarks about Saudi Arabia, the experienced goalie seemed willing to accept Al-Nassr’s massive offer. However, there were some issues between the two sides. The suitors didn’t offer as much as the Bianconeri requested initially.

Our Take on Szczesny, Monza, and Juventus

Adriano Galliani has worked his magic more than a few times, but it’d be quite stunning if he pulled this off since his side is in a different and less lavish era sans Silvio Berlusconi. All the top Italian clubs are set on goal, but there could always be some surprises if he’s hellbent on not leaving the Peninsula. Como could be a viable destination, for instance.
