Monza Sign Ex-Real Madrid Icon in Surprise Transfer

Following the breakdown of Pierluigi Gollini’s transfer from Atalanta, Monza immediately turned their attention towards Keylor Navas. The Brianza outfit have successfully signed the former Real Madrid goalkeeper as a free agent. The three-time UEFA Champions League winner, who was released by Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer, will move to the Biancorossi on a free transfer, Sky Italia confirms.

Navas is expected to carry out his medical examination tomorrow after accepting Monza’s initial proposal, which was reportedly drafted by president Adriano Galliani himself. The Costa Rica shot-stopper will undertake a huge financial sacrifice to materialize the move to Monza, falling to about €1.5M net per season from €7M he used to earn in the French capital.

Appearing just 6 times for PSG the previous season, the decorated veteran will now embark on a fresh journey in the north of Italy under newly-appointed coach Alessandro Nesta.

Navas has three Champions Leagues, one La Liga, three Ligue 1 championships and a plethora of other accolades under his belt, which have led to many citing him as one of the greatest ever goalkeepers of his generation.

Meanwhile, Atalanta’s Gollini is set to move to Genoa on a loan deal following the collapse of his move to Monza.
