Atalanta continue to be very active and have Wilfried Singo in their crosshairs to further tweak their flanks. The Torino star is on his way out since he has struggled to agree to a new contract. His current one expires in 2024.
Per Sky, La Dea and the Granata have arranged a swap between the Ivorian international and Brandon Soppy. The Bergamaschi would include €7M in the package. The teams haven’t come to terms with the respective entourages yet, but they are working on it. The ex-Udinese youngster will talk with his prospective new coach because he wants to be reassured of his playing time.
Atalanta are targeting Singo also because Joakim Maehle is on the verge of departing. Wolfsburg, which offered €8M last week, raised their proposal to €12/13M. The Dane signed off on it, as he’s familiar with their gaffer Niko Kovac.
If the deal went through as expected, he’d leave after collecting 80 appearances and scoring 4 goals in Serie A. He has been at the club since 2021.
Our Take on Atalanta and Singo
His growth lagged a bit last season, but he has a lot of untapped potential, and they don’t have somebody like him. They’d get him for a discount given his contractual situation. There’s a solid chance the deal goes through even without Soppy. Maehle has been so up-and-down, and the offer is sound enough.
