Motta Never Spoke to Napoli, Reveals Agent Canovi

Lawyer and agent Alessandro Canovi, who represents the interests of Thiago Motta, is perfectly sure of the coach’s regard for Bologna’s next game against Hellas Verona. The ex-Spezia tactician is reportedly nearing a contract extension with the Rossoblù, and the announcement is expected to become official during the upcoming international break.

Canovi spoke to Radio Punto Nuovo (via TuttoBolognweb) and relayed what could entail in the coming weeks.

“There are still no indications from the club or Thiago on the drafting of the contract. There is an open dialogue, they are talking about it and when necessary, I will intervene. Knowing Thiago, I think he is totally focused on the pitch.”

There were rumors circulating of Napoli interested in Motta before signing Rudi Garcia, but Canovi shrugged away any such talk.

“We have never had talks with Napoli, and we need to respect Garcia’s work now. Coming in after Luciano Spalletti would have been difficult for everyone Thiago is happy in Bologna and has also reiterated it publicly.”

Motta will see his Bologna contract at the end of the season and is strongly expected to sign an extension until the summer of 2025.
