Bologna gave away a one-goal lead to succumb to a 1-1 draw to Juventus courtesy of Duan Vlahovic’s late header to equalize proceedings after Lewis Ferguson’s early goal. Thiago Motta backed his side for a spirited performance despite being denied a penalty after a controversial challenge on Dan Ndoye by Samuel Iling-Junior in the box.
Motta shared his thoughts on his outfit’s display to DAZN (via TuttoBolognaweb).
“I want to applaud my boys because they were fantastic for the whole ninety minutes always understanding what they had to do. We return to Bologna with our heads held high and tonight we will sleep peacefully with the conviction that we have done things right. I don’t want to comment on the penalty episode because I want to keep moving forward.”
Bologna have increased their squad depth with seven signings, and Motta is not worried about the various situations they could perhaps encounter in the coming matchdays.
“I am convinced that we can do even better, especially in the ball recovery phase where we can make better use of certain situations. But I’m happy with the boys, everyone has made a contribution, even those who were on the bench or didn’t play. We are a united team.”
The Rossoblù welcome Cagliari next at the Renato Dall’Ara before traveling to Hellas Verona.
