Mourinho Lashes at Officials Following Red Card in ‘Undeserved’ Loss

Jose Mourinho and the Giallorossi endured a difficult evening at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cremonese credit to a late penalty. Mourinho, who was sent off after an altercation, has hit out at the officials for behaving in a ‘dishonest and unjustifiable’ manner during the clash in Cremona.

Speaking to DAZN (via Calciomercato), the Special One disclosed his dissatisfaction at the events that unfolded yesterday.

“I’m emotional but not crazy. Something happened, otherwise I wouldn’t have had that reaction. I need to figure out if I can do anything legally. Piccinini gave me the red card because the fourth man, Serra, told him to. And the latter doesn’t have the honesty to reveal what he really told me. I don’t want to go into the fact that he’s from Turin and then we play Juve next Sunday. He spoke to me in an unjustifiable way. I want to understand if there is audio of what he said to me. He spoke in an unjustifiable way. I then went to their changing rooms: Serra forgot what he told me. Maybe he’s very strong on the pitch, but I respect him off the pitch like he respects me.”

He then lashed out at his side for not being motivated enough despite admitting that they were a ‘little unlucky.’

“The excuse of tiredness doesn’t exist – several days have gone by since Thursday. A little unlucky, yes. But the responsibility is ours, we lacked intensity and the desire to go in to close the game right away. That’s not true, but it seemed that one team was playing the game of their life and another didn’t. Of course, we didn’t deserve to lose: for the second half done, we certainly thought we could reach the net of success. The defeat is undeserved.”

Mourinho’s Roma failed to jump above eternal rivals Lazio into fourth position, with the loss dealing a huge blow to their Champions League aspirations next campaign. Cremonese, on the other hand, registered their maiden win this Serie A campaign after 24 matchdays. The Special One has been suspended for two matches for his antics by the sports judge, as he also offended the fourth official in the locker room.
