Mourinho Marks Record European Trophy Haul with Tattoo

José Mourinho and his troops stormed to grab the inaugural edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League after beating Feyenoord 1-0 in Albania at the end of last season, making him the first-ever manager in the history of the beautiful game to win all possible UEFA competitions since making his managerial debut for Benfica back in September 2000.

The Special One has commemorated his iconic achievement by inking a tattoo artwork on his right shoulder – the Champions League trophy sandwiched between the Europa League (formerly UEFA Cup) and Conference League cups.

The three trophies contain color palettes of each of the clubs he has led to glory on the continental front.

He explained in a different post.

“The joy of the Roman people led me to do it. Then I thought about something special, something that would honour all the clubs where I won European competitions. At the same time, I wanted a unique tattoo, one that, so far, I am the only one who can have it.”

He first managed to leader Porto to the UEFA Cup accolade in 2002/03, before going against all odds to etch himself into history books by winning the Dragons’ second UCL trophy in 2003/04. Despite conquering England on all domestic fronts with Chelsea, Mourinho had to wait six more years to win a European trophy. This time it arrived in the form of the first Italian treble in history with Inter.

He failed to replicate his managerial success with Real Madrid, but nonetheless led Manchester United to their only recent trophy to date with the Europa League in 2016/17. His recent victory in the Conference League sums up his four-cup continental triumph.
