Lazio might have defeated Spezia with an irregular goal, and José Mourinho was unwilling to let it slide in the aftermath of the draw against Bologna: “There is still someone that wins thanks to offside goals in 2022, and that is what happened yesterday. You should not hide that.”

The Special One was referring to Francesco Acerbi’s late header, where the defender appears to be beyond the penultimate defender while the goalie had come out. However, it does not seem that the VAR saw the infraction. The Biancocelesti caught up with the crosstown rivals in the standings.

The Portuguese gaffer believes that the level of Italian journalism improved compared to his first stay in his remarks to DAZN and Sky (via Ansa): “It would be wrong for me to say that there is a lot of intellectual prostitution now, as I instead thought at the time. Besides somebody, the press is serious and offers constructive criticism.”

On top of throwing shade at Lazio, Mourinho again defended Nicolò Zaniolo: “The writers and referees are obsessed with him. All the questions always hinge on the results, and that has not changed in 22 years. It is clear that he modified his attitude, but the officials have not reciprocated it. He is well aware of being a target. He is no longer getting yellow cards because he protests too much. However, he is constantly receiving the same treatment anyway.” The Roma attacker has been booked ten times in Serie A play and saw red twice.
