José Mourinho didn’t miss the opportunity to tease Lazio after Roma advanced in Europa League by besting Ludogorets, while the crosstown rivals were relegated to third continental competition following a stunning loss to Feyenoord in the final matchday of the group stage.
The Special One talked to Sky and DAZN after the game (via Corriere dello Sport).
“I think Lazio are the favorites to win the European Conference League. I honestly think that. There are West Ham, Leicester City, Fiorentina, Villarreal, which are different from last year, and them. I haven’t seen the full picture, but they are the frontrunners in my mind. They have the coach, the players, and the team to do it. Maybe the problem is that Igli Tare doesn’t like that cup.”
Mourinho referred to when the Lazio director belittled the two secondary competitions.
“In football there are pointless tournaments like the Conference League, which we call the cup of losers, or the Europa League, which have no value for the profits they generate.”
Mourinho gaffer looked ahead at Sunday’s Derby with Lazio.
