Mourinho: ‘We Want Europa League Play-Offs; One Result to Get There”

Ahead of the Giallorossi’s vital clash against Ludogrets within the last week of the Europa League, Roma boss Mourinho previewed the important tie.

As it stands within Group C, both teams are level with seven points, but Ludogrets have the upper edge as they posses the superior record head-to-head. As a result, obtaining anything fewer than three points at the Stadio Olimpico would send Mourinho’s squad down to the Conference League.

While speaking to the media, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, the Portuguese tactician touched upon the significance of clinching a victory within this fixture:

“If we don’t win, we go to Conference League, but we don’t want. We want Europa League play-offs, and we only have one result to get there. It will be difficult because we have pressure and because of the opponent.

I think the stadium is sold out, so the atmosphere will be worth a big match, like against Bodo or Leicester. If we create this atmosphere, we can make it.”

In addition, Mourinho spoke about what he expects to see from his opposition tomorrow evening:

“I expect a tam playing for two results, differently from us. They are dangerous with counter-attacks, but we know we must run risks. The players’ ambition is not to win the Conference League again, we want to play in the Europa League play-offs where we’ll find teams that could even win the Champions League. That’s where we want to get.”
