Nicolò Zaniolo is unlikely to be bought out by Aston Villa at the end of the season. A few Serie A sides are keeping tabs on the situation to potentially try to sign him from Galatasaray in the summer. The English side isn’t inclined to shell out €22.5M after paying €5M for the loan, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The winger hasn’t lived up to expectations, scoring just twice in 26 appearances. He has played less than 1000 total minutes. He last started on December 3rd and has seen very limited game time in the last couple of months.
Since Zaniolo hasn’t been a regular, Aston Villa won’t be obliged to redeem him. The deal also includes €15.5M bonuses. Roma are still entitled to €10M add-ons and 20 percent of the difference between the fee of his departure and what Galatasaray paid to acquire him, €16.5M. He has a €35M release clause in his contract.
Juventus, Milan, and Fiorentina would be keen on him if he returned to Turkey. They’d eventually try to arrange an initial loan or swaps that could entice the Turkish side.

It was a nice opportunity for him, but the days when he was a super-touted prospect are long gone, mostly due to two major knee injuries in a row. However, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t bounce back and be productive in a second-tier side. The Cimbom seem open to convoluted formulas, which facilitate another transfer.
