Ex-Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has backed fellow Belgian Romelu Lukaku to shine in the Giallorossi colors in the 2023/24 season. The former Inter striker parted ways on bitter terms with the Nerazzurri faithful as links emerged with Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus over a summer move. However, all that was put to bed once Tiago Pinto offered Lukaku an escape route.
Nainggolan shared his opinion on Lukaku to the microphones Corriere dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“I’ll hear from Lukaku later, he knows that if he wants to ask me for some advice on Rome, he can be more than calm with me. I’m really happy that he is at Roma and to know that we share the yellow and red shirt, although at different times. It was an important coup for the club.”
Nainggolan also gave his thoughts on what Lukaku will add to Jose Mourinho’s outfit.
“He has the winning mentality of a great player. A professional. I know him very well, he’s a decent boy who gives everything for the team. He doesn’t create problems, he’s focused on the group and the goal 24 hours a day. And he’s very happy of this challenge.”
Lukaku is expected to make his Roma debut against Milan at the weekend.
