Napoli Ace Touted for Summer Exit Amid Interest in Georgian Talent

Mexican international Hirving Lozano is reportedly heading towards the exit door at Napoli after the club identified the player they will be signing next. As reported earlier, the Partenopei have received a huge boost in the pursuit of Georgian wonderkid Khvicha Kvaratskshelia after he was released by Russian club Rubin Kazan due to ongoing sanctions imposed on Russia by FIFA.

According to latest reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TuttoNapoli), onboarding the Georgian wonderkid winger will mean that he potentially takes on the role of Lozano in the team.

However, that is very well contentious, given that two of Napoli’s best forwards – Toronto FC’s new signing Lorenzo Insigne and soon-to-be free agent Dries Mertens – are bound to leave ahead of the 2022/23 season.

With both of them gone, the Partenopei will lose major firepower upfront and retaining Lozano would be in the best interests of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Nevertheless, for the right price any player can be bought and the 26-year-old Mexican’s €35m tag is bound to attract the attention of several top clubs.

El Clasico giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have been linked to Lozano in the past, but it is the emergence of Atletico Madrid that spices things up in the race for his signature.

Diego Simeone is reportedly a fan of the Mexican and the imminent departures of Hector Herrera and Luis Suarez only strengthens links.

‘Chucky’ Lozano has 5 goals and 4 assists in 32 appearances for the southern giants in his third season running. Overall, he has racked up 25 goals in 109 caps so far.
